Packaging Eco-evolution
and see where it takes us.
The cereal box in your kitchen. The envelope your online shopping came in. The cup you use to sip your triple oat latte. Packaging is all around us. But have you ever really stopped to think about the impact it has on our lives and planet? We have.
The journey to fiber-based packaging is already on – leading us to solutions that are biodegradable by nature and circular by design. We call this the eco-evolution. And you are invited to join.
Packaging a cleaner future
The packaging industry is in the midst of multiple changes and great transition. For us at Stora Enso, there is calm in the eyes of the storm as we continue to work towards creating new and innovative solutions from renewable materials.
As the amount of packaging the world needs continues to grow, sustainable solutions are needed now more than ever. But those solutions still need to be usable – they need to protect and preserve the food we eat, the products we use, and the planet we all inhabit.
The bottom line is that too much of what we use is made from non-renewable, fossil-fuel heavy materials like plastic. Some of that plastic can be recycled, of course. But it can never be renewed.
What if everything made of fossil-based materials today could be made from material that’s not only recyclable, but completely renewable? This is our goal.
Material that can be regrown over and over again? And in a process where the only gas emitted isn’t CO2 but oxygen?
The solution is growing
There is an answer to all of these questions. And it’s growing on trees.
To transition to a sustainable and circular economy, we need to leave fossil-based materials where they belong – in the past. Renewable materials are the only way forward and wood fiber is the best way to go.
At Stora Enso, we think everything made of fossil-based materials today can be made from a tree tomorrow. Building on our heritage and experience in forestry and trees, we’re developing fiber-based packaging solutions that people, businesses and the planet can love.
