NeoLigno®: A bio-based binder for building materials
Replacing fossil-based binders with a renewable alternative
NeoLigno® by Stora Enso is a product of our curiosity – and a determination to reduce carbon footprint in the construction industry. At Stora Enso circularity is key, and we are always looking for ways to phase out fossil-based materials by utilizing bio-based alternatives from our forests. In the construction industry adhesives are not only harmful to the environment – they are also compromising the safety of people handling the material. Good thing great ideas actually grow on trees: Proudly introducing NeoLigno® – the strong safe, and sustainable bio-based binder.
Bundle Studio and NeoLigno
Bundle Studio discovered NeoLigno at Stockholm Furniture Fair and started experimenting — pushing molded plywood, highlighting the beauty of veneer and glue, and exploring what happens when designers start with the material.

At Stora Enso we do not compromise on quality. With NeoLigno®, manufacturers can produce construction materials with reduced emissions and lower carbon footprint. All while maintaining high bonding quality. NeoLigno® will revolutionise the construction industry and make the transition to bio-based adhesives easy and well worth your while.

Free from harmful compounds
The harmful chemicals used in traditional binders are widely present in our homes, workplaces, and schools. Invisible to the naked eye, they are in our inner walls and insulation, risking our health while having a negative impact on the environment.
But there is a solution. NeoLigno® by Stora Enso is a bio-based binder free from harmful compounds like formaldehyde and isocyanate, ideal for wood products and mineral wool. NeoLigno® is made from Lignin – a side stream of the pulp industry typically utilised as bioenergy – already being produced in millions of tonnes across Europe.
